Nada Yoga — Divine Experience of Sound

Music and Meditation for Holistic Well-Being

There are moments on our spiritual path when the Divine does not call us with words—but with a sound.

A single note enters the heart, the breath, in that quiet inner space where the Soul recognizes something familiar, and suddenly something ancient in us awakens.

This is Nada Yoga—the Yoga of Divine Sound.

Not learned. Not practiced.

But received.

This is the essence of Nada Yoga, the sacred science of healing through sound.

Nada Yoga, also known as Nada Chikitsa is a powerful, natural flow of deep healing. This science can be seen in Gandharva Veda, an Ancient Vedic Science. Sri Swamiji has embodied this practice of music to heal and re-connect to our source. His approach combines music, yoga, and spirituality to promote holistic well-being.

When Stillness Begins to Sing

In stillness, we find the dance. In silence, we find the answers.

Nada Raga Sagara by Sri Swamiji is an extraordinary music experience. It systematically pulls our whole being into a stillness and silence, realigning us with our source. It is an invaluable time in our lives. Whether you experience it live, online, or dedicate time to listen and let go completely, the healing that occurs through this realignment is beyond description.

This practice is a special Vedic science using the power of music and sound on all living forms, the environment, our body and mind. The Gandharva Veda is the Upaveda (subsidiary Veda) of the Sama Veda, and it is associated with musical rhythms, intonation, and chanting of mantras.

This science is elaborate and details how different sounds and rhythms, also called ‘Ragas’, are connected to and affect different aspects of this Creation. Our body is a unique replica of the forces of the universe, and Ragas are designed to work in harmony with it. For instance, specific Ragas can invoke different states of mind or emotions. There are also Ragas for particular times of the day and even seasons or times of the year. Thus, they are a translation of the rhythms present in Nature into the rhythms of music and sound. It is amazing to know that such profound knowledge was already made available to us thousands of years ago!

At Nada Dhyana Inc., we use Sri Swamiji’s music in all our sessions, which he has specifically composed for healing and meditation purposes. When you join our sessions, you have experienced this healing music and its effect in your mind, body and soul.

Sound – a Healing Power

Various studies have shown evidence of the healing power of sound. Some examples include a research showing that not only do plants grow better and live longer when exposed to certain types of music, but that even animals are influenced by them. Cows have been found to produce significantly more milk when exposed to certain types of music. It is therefore clear that the type of music we are exposed to has a profound effect on our body and state of mind. And, examples of healing music, and various melodies or frequencies for music or sound therapy.

The Science Beneath

While research on crystal harps specifically is still emerging, existing studies on sound therapy and vibrational healing provide strong support for their effectiveness. Scientific research indicates that sound healing can:

  • Reduce stress and anxiety – Studies have shown that meditative sound experiences, such as those created by singing bowls, can lower cortisol levels (the stress hormone) and induce a state of deep relaxation.
  • Enhance pain management – Research on sound therapy has demonstrated its ability to reduce perceived pain levels, particularly in hospital patients and those experiencing chronic pain conditions.
  • Improve sleep quality – Sound frequencies associated with relaxation have been found to slow brainwave activity, aiding in deeper, more restful sleep.
  • Support emotional release – Many sound healing modalities help clear energetic blockages and promote emotional balance.

An Invitation to Listen With the Heart

Nada Yoga is not something to study, analyze, or master.

It is something to surrender to.

Every raga, every note, every pause in Sri Swamiji’s music carries the presence of Guru Tattva. If we sit quietly and allow the sound to enter, not only through the ears but through the heart, the healing begins naturally.

May the sacred vibrations of Nada lead us inward.

May they heal, align, soothe, and uplift.

And may the divine music of Sri Swamiji remind us, again and again, of our own infinite light.

The Healing Power of Microgreens

I have a deep love for microgreens! These tiny plants have become one of the most powerful and healing foods I’ve ever discovered. Whenever I add them to my salads, sprinkle them on my regular meals, or eat them directly, something magical happens. It feels as if the food is absorbed effortlessly into my system. Even when I’ve eaten to my brim, I feel light, clear, and energized — sometimes, I even notice my eyesight feels sharper!

What Are Microgreens?

Microgreens are a young class of edible vegetables, harvested just after the seed leaves have expanded but before the first true leaves emerge — approximately 1–3 inches (2.5–7.5 cm) tall. Though small, they are nutrient-dense powerhouses; they are a source of life for our cells and are now being celebrated as a new class of superfoods.

Their vibrant colours, delicate textures, and intense flavours make them not only a delight to eat but also a true source of life energy.

My Journey with Microgreens

My experience with microgreens began in the early 1980s, during my Siddha Samadhi Yoga journey under the guidance of Guruji Rishi Prabhakar.

Back then, during our silent retreats, we would often include microgreens as part of our fasting and cleansing routines. Even with a very light diet, these tiny greens helped us feel alert, energized, and deeply balanced.

In those days, only a few people in Ottawa were growing them commercially. Today, it’s heartening to see a thriving movement — microgreens have become a new wellness industry, spreading health and light to many homes.

The Science and Spiritual Energy of Microgreens

From a nutritional point of view, microgreens are condensed vitality. As a seed awakens from dormancy and begins its transformation into a plant, it bursts with life-force energy — the prana or chi that nourishes all living things.

Studies show that microgreens can contain 20–40 times more vitamins and antioxidants than their mature versions. They’re rich in vitamins A, C, E, and K, minerals like iron, magnesium, and potassium, and potent antioxidants that protect cells from damage and inflammation. And, regular consumption of Microgreens with each meal increases the ability to stay alert and alive through the day in all tasks.

No wonder they make me feel so alive after eating them — they’re literally plants in transition, carrying the vibration of growth and renewal.

Growing and Enjoying Microgreens

The beauty of microgreens is that they are easy to grow at home, year-round.

You can grow them on a sunny windowsill, under LED lights, or even hydroponically. Larger seeds thrive in soil trays, while smaller ones grow beautifully in water or coco mats.

A few of my favourites are broccoli, watercress, radish, mustard, fenugreek, sunflower, pea shoots, and arugula — each has its own distinct flavour and personality. You can also explore grains like wheat, barley, corn and oats, or even legumes like chickpeas and lentils.

Sprinkle them on your salads, garnish on any food, blend them into smoothies, or simply eat them by the handful — they’ll uplift both your body and spirit.

A Closing Thought

Microgreens remind me that life’s greatest power lies in its smallest forms. Within each seed is the potential for a forest, and within each bite, the potential for transformation.

Consuming microgreens in every meal has contributed to increasing energy levels and with it, my ability to stay alert and alive throughout the day.

By choosing foods alive with prana — like microgreens — we honour both our body’s wisdom and the Earth’s generosity.

Microgreens nourish our bodies beyond our physical level. In Ayurveda and Yoga, we have the concept of the 5 Koshas – layers of being which range from the physical body to the inner self. These mighty little plants contribute to our well-being by:

  • Nourishing the Physical Body (Annamaya Kosha) – the dense concentration of vitamins and minerals directly builds, repairs, and protects our physical form.
  • Energizing the Vital Body (Pranamaya Kosha) – the lightness and easy digestion help fuel the body’s energy levels without weighing it down, directly enhancing your vitality and alertness.
  • Clarifying the Mental Body (Manomaya Kosha) – when the physical and energetic bodies are clean and vibrant, the mind naturally becomes clearer and more focused, leading to greater mental clarity, improved focus, and emotional balance.
  • Supporting Intuitive Awareness (Vijnanamaya Kosha) – improves brain health and cognitive function, which helps to create the physiological foundation for deeper awareness and insight.
  • Contributing to a Sense of Bliss (Anandamaya Kosha) – overall vitality and well-being come from consuming pure, powerful foods that help stabilize the foundation for a more joyful and peaceful existence.

So, let us eat consciously, celebrate vitality, and let these tiny greens become a bridge between our physical nourishment and our spiritual awakening.

Datta Kriya Yoga

As pointed out by Vedanta (the ultimate knowledge), the path to attain the goal of life is perfected by Yoga. Datta Kriya Yoga is both a science of meditation and a skilful way of living. It is essential to all the seekers of Yoga to improve their health and develop their pranic energy.

Sri Swamiji has expounded the system of Kriya Yoga which helps in Self analysis of physical (somatic) body, Psychic body (subtle and causal body) to the western disciples. What is the means for an ordinary householder, or a man of mundane duties, to know and learn Yoga? It is through Datta Kriya Yoga. It deals with restraint of breath, various techniques of breathing, relaxation, method of withdrawal of sense organs, fixing one's attention on a particular diety or object for the purpose of concentration and contemplation.
